The Tiger Man Fateh Singh Rathore

Fateh Singh Rathore well deserves his reputation as one of the foremost experts on wild tigers in the world today. His story is one of remarkable tenacity, courage, dedication and sheer love for this most charismatic of cats. There was nothing in his family background which prepared him for life as a protector of endangered animals. He grew up in a desert village near Jodhpur with sparse vegetation around, was anything but a model student, being of a fun-loving and carefree disposition. He joined the forest service about fifty years ago, in July 1960, when he was posted to Sariska as a Game Ranger.
